The Stenheim and FM Acoustics System
A complete hi-fi separates system, Stenheim loudspeakers, FM Acoustics electronics and a Linn source pairing, supplied by Absolute Sound in a single purchase rather than built up in stages.
Stenheim loudspeakers, FM Acoustics electronics and a Linn source system, installed together.
The brief
Absolute Sound supplied this system as a single purchase, not built up in stages: Stenheim loudspeakers, FM Acoustics electronics and Linn source components together from the start.
FM Acoustics of Switzerland builds each function, preamplification, amplification and control, into its own dedicated unit rather than sharing a single box. Paired with it, large handmade floorstanding loudspeakers from Stenheim, also Swiss-made, give the system room to open up.
The same principle carries through to the source. Linn supplied a Klimax LP12, the flagship of the Sondek turntable it has built in Glasgow since 1973, alongside a Klimax DSM network player. The DSM streams, and only streams: amplification stays with FM Acoustics and sound reproduction with Stenheim, so no single unit is asked to do more than one job.
