The Klipsch 5.1 Home Theater in an HDB Living Room
A Klipsch 5.1 home theatre in the living room of an HDB flat, in ebony, set against an exposed-brick feature wall.
The Klipsch 5.1 system across the living room wall, with the television mounted on exposed brick.
The brief
The client wanted a 5.1 home theatre in the living room of their HDB flat. It was their first.
Absolute Sound specified the Klipsch Reference Premiere range throughout, so every loudspeaker and the subwoofer come from the same range.
The system runs a 5.1 layout, finished in ebony throughout. The television is wall-mounted on an exposed-brick feature wall. An RP-404C II sits at the centre on a long wooden cabinet below it for dialogue, with a pair of RP-5000F II floorstanding loudspeakers either side of the cabinet carrying the front left and right channels. The RP-1000SW subwoofer stands on the floor to the right of the right-hand floorstander. The RP-500M II bookshelf loudspeakers, on floor stands beside the sofa, take the two rear channels.
A film on this system is built around clarity. Dialogue comes from the four-woofer centre, set below the screen, so voices stay with the picture. Klipsch credits its horn tweeters with crisper, clearer sound, and that keeps the detail in effects and score easy to follow. The same horn sits in the front and rear loudspeakers, so a car can cross the room without changing character, and the 10-inch RP-1000SW gives explosions and low notes in the score their weight.
