Description
The Madison Streamer is Wattson’s network player and DAC. It takes music from your network or from a digital source such as a CD transport or a television, converts it, and outputs it on balanced XLR and single-ended RCA sockets. It has a front-panel volume knob and a 6.35mm headphone socket, so it can drive a power amplifier directly or sit in front of a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Wattson designs it in Switzerland, in the same workshops as CH Precision.
Over Ethernet it plays PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD up to DSD256. The S/PDIF inputs (coaxial and optical) take PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit, and DSD64 over DoP. A SHARC DSP applies Wattson’s own upsampling filter, a short time-domain design, and one WM8742 DAC runs per channel. Volume is a 64-bit digital attenuator developed with CH Precision, in 0.5dB steps. It is Roon Ready, supports Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect and AirPlay, uses UPnP/DLNA, and plays with Audirvana. The software is updated over Ethernet.
It is powered by an external 5V supply, and the Madison Power S can be added as a quieter supply for it. The Madison Amplifier is the matching power amplifier: the Streamer’s volume control means the two can be used together without a separate preamplifier.
