Thixar
Thixar designs and builds vibration-isolation platforms, racks and support accessories for hi-fi equipment, developed in Germany since 2009. Absolute Sound is the distributor for Thixar in Singapore and Malaysia.
The thixotropic principle
Founder Dirk Rüdell trained as a laboratory chemist before turning to hi-fi, and the company’s name comes from thixotropy, the property of certain gels that stiffen or soften under vibration and shear. His platforms pair that gel with wood, metal, glass and elastomer layers, chosen for how each material behaves under load, in what Rüdell calls Adaptive Vibration Control. Every product is still manufactured in Düsseldorf, working with specialist local suppliers for individual components.
